Snapshot in the Moment
This is a fun strategy that can help to engage intermediate with something relevant that they use often. It allows students to think more deeply about what photos they post and why they write what they do writing on social media.
STEP 1: Have students look at their social media and look at what the last photo they posted was
STEP 2: Have them discuss with their table group why they posted what they did.
STEP 3: Fill out the Snapshot moment worksheet
EXTENTIONS: You can get your students to write an essay or other written works about this topic

STEP 1: Provide photo/ photos
STEP 2: Instruct students to choose a photo
STEP 3: Instruct to choose a photo/ decide what resonates with them
STEP 4: Have students write a story
STEP 5: Have students share with partner or table group
RAFT
STEP 1: Explain the RAFT acronym
STEP 2: Hand out examples page with examples, questions to ask yourself and explanation
STEP 3: Hand out blank RAFT sheet
STEP 4: Hand out popsicle sticks with with format prompts
STEP 5: Go over one example with students for choosing a role, audience, format and topic
STEP 6: Let students begin their writing process
